Visa Reveals Three New Value-Added Services for Merchants

TRANSACT 2025 saw Visa's announcement of three new products for payment acceptance. As of April 3rd, 2025, ARIC Risk Hub is available. In Q2, Visa will launch the "reimagined" Authorize.net, and Q3 will see the release of Unified Checkout. Each of these value-added services will work to simplify the payment process and enhance fraud protections for acquirers and merchants.

Key Takeaways

  • Visa is updating Authorize.net to allow for more customization and better fraud detection and chargeback protection.
  • Unified Checkout will allow for the integration of various payment channels and systems for a more personalized payment experience.
  • ARIC Risk Hub empowers merchants and acquirers to reduce fraud and financial crime losses with optimal behavioral analytics.

A New Authorize.net

Authorize.net is a merchant services provider that offers payment solutions like payment gateways, processing, and Check solutions to business owners. The platform already allows merchants the ability to accept all major credit cards and to integrate with third-party merchant account providers. With this upgrade, merchants will have a customizable dashboard that is more streamlined and task-oriented.

The updated platform will also come with fraud detection tools that will automatically identify any suspicious transactions based on data training acquired through years of experience. This tool will also handle getting credit cards validated by customers' card issuers. Additionally, ANET's updates will include tools to help reduce and prevent chargeback fees and inventory fees. All of these new elements will work towards enhanced flexibility and stability.

United Checkout

United Checkout is a new payment tool to help merchants consolidate their payment information into a single, unified view. The service comes with a global gateway with a single, scalable connection and a token management service that protects sensitive customer information while also analyzing customer behavior across various payment methods.

United Checkout allows merchants to accept a wide array of payments, from credit and debit to contactless options like Apple Pay to Click to Pay. Merchants also have the option to accept in-person payments with Visa-supplied payment terminals or any supported payment device that can be integrated into the Visa network.

ARIC™ Risk Hub

The ARIC™ Risk Hub is a fraud-fighting platform designed specifically for financial institutions. This tool uses Featurespace's Automated Deep Behavioral Networks to profile customer behavior based on their past and present activity. ARIC™ Risk Hub's analytics automatically adapt to evolving behaviors along with the latest scams, eliminating the need for manual retraining.

Merchants can combine this tool with a variety of solutions, including scam detection, card fraud prevention, application fraud prevention, payment fraud prevention, check fraud prevention, merchant acquiring fraud prevention, gaming fraud prevention, anti-money laundering tools, and 3D Secure.

Final Thoughts

The release of these services demonstrates Visa's acute awareness of the evolving payment landscape, including the ways payments are accepted and the latest fraud techniques. These solutions are part of a 200 value-added service suite with tools catering to a large variety of unique client needs. Visa's stated aim for these new services is to improve customer experience and reduce fraud, ideally making the payment experience even simpler and safer.
