Ingenico and Genesys Release New Payment Technology

Two payment technology companies have recently announced the release of their latest payment products. Ingenico, a pioneer in merchant services tech, has debuted the Axium CX9000, an electronic cash register designed to render the checkout experience more efficient and streamlined overall. Meanwhile, payment security provider MagTek has released a statement claiming that Genesys Technologies, a developer of unattended payment devices, will incorporate MagTek's secure encryption technology in its newest CryptoTap Plus device.

Key Takeaways:

  • Ingenico has released the Axium CX9000, a mini-ECR designed as an all-in-one POS to help streamline transactions and offer merchants enhanced capabilities.

  • MagTek has partnered with Genesys Technologies to upgrade the security features for CryptoTap Plus, a payment apparatus that assists carwashes and laundromats.

  • These updated security features have the highest level of secure encryption currently available on the commercial market.

The Axium CX9000 is a mini Electronic Cash Register that uses the Android 14 platform. This device is Google Mobile Services Certified, meaning it meets all the specifications recommended by Google. The ECR comes with integrated sales, payment, and inventory management systems and requires minimal setup. Additionally, the all-in-one POS can integrate loyalty programs and digital receipts. This device also supports all major payment types, including contactless payments and digital wallets. It has a 15.6'' capacitive high-resolution multi-touch screen, meaning it can recognize multiple points of contact.

The customer-facing side of the device includes an 8'' HD touchscreen, a front-facing camera, and a rear camera for data capture. The device's advanced security features include PCI PTS v6 certification, EMV V3 compliance, and palm rejection technology. The latter feature allows the technology to differentiate between a stylus, fingertip, palm, or wrist so as to reject unwanted contact. The device also comes with up to four USB ports, thus allowing the merchant to attach external features such as cash drawers, printers, and barcode scanners.

CryptoTap Plus, released by MagTek partnered with Genesys Technologies, is a wireless payment technology catering to carwashes and laundromats. The device allows merchants to accept wireless transactions from EMV contactless cards and NFC contactless devices. It runs on the MyCryptoPay app, a cloud-based site management tool included with every CryptoPay Coordinator purchase. The app allows business owners to add new sites and view site statuses along with recent credit card purchases.

MagTek's technology includes the Magnesafe Security Architecture, now equipped with AES-256 encryption. According to MagTek, this is the highest level of commercial encryption available. CryptoTap Plus is currently using MagTek's Reader Management system to upgrade its DynaProx contactless-only readers so that they can transmit AES-encrypted data to Magensa Cloud services for decryption and payment processing purposes.

The product's IK08 and IP66 rating makes it uniquely suited for laundromats and carwashes. These codes stand for Ingress Protection (IP) and Impact Resistance (IK), and they both relate to the standards established by the International Electrotechnical Commission. The ratings indicate that the product's casings and electrical enclosures are suitably resistant to damage from physical impact and strong water jets.

The release of these new technologies is yet another indicator of the payment industry's investment in constantly evolving security features and enhanced customer transaction experiences.
